Reservations are accepted up to the night before departure if there is availability. Westwind is an ‘on demand’ carrier. To be sure your tour is available on the day you prefer please book as early as you are sure of your dates and tour choice.
Tours have a 24 – hour cancellation policy and Charter flights have a 48 – hour cancellation policy. Group policies are different – please see our “Pro’s” page if you have a group of 18 or more passengers.
Cancellation within the 24 or 48-hour window as described above is subject to a 50% penalty fee.
Tours canceled by Westwind due to weather or unforeseen maintenance:
We will first try to reschedule passengers to another date, time or tour if possible.
In the event that rescheduling is not possible, there are no penalties or fees.
* It is our goal to provide passengers with the best possible experience. If there are weather conditions that are not conducive to a good tour we will cancel/reschedule even if conditions are safe enough to fly.
Tour schedule, times and order of attractions may vary due to weather and other factors.
What to Wear
Temperatures vary up to 30 degrees between Phoenix, the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. Most of our tours are into wilderness areas with natural, rocky terrains. We suggest passengers dress in layers of comfortable clothing and closed shoes, such as sneakers.
Our strong and plentiful Arizona sunshine is best enjoyed with the use of sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses.
It is fine to carry a small backpack for your camera, odds and ends, and to hold some of the layers you may shed as the day goes on.

Small aircraft are sensitive to weight therefore it is important to have accurate physical weights of people, luggage or cargo to comply with safety protocols.
On the Grand Canyon Adventure Tour – West Rim there is an additional charge of $72.00 per person for passengers of 285 lbs. or more. This is assessed by the helicopter company and is payable with the rest of the tour at check-in time.”
Westwind has a variety of minimum passenger requirements on our tours. Please note the passenger minimums when booking your tour.
Gratuities are not included in the cost of your tour. Westwind Air Service Pilots, along with their priority of providing a safe and comfortable flight, also function as your tour guide throughout the day. It is completely appropriate to give your pilot a gratuity. Although there is no set ‘right amount’, the pilots appreciate whatever you may choose to give them. If you enjoyed your tour and felt your pilot did a good job of expediting your tour and providing you with information and attention, please feel free to reward them appropriately.
On the Monument Valley Grand Circle Tour you will have a Navajo Guide on the ground tour portion. Again, gratuities are appreciated.
On the Grand Canyon Adventure Tour to the West Rim there are numerous people involved in the tour. You may wish to give a small gratuity to the boat driver, Hualapai Guide if you are escorted around the village by them instead of your pilot and the tribal members doing the performances at the Indian Village.
On the Grand Canyon Air and Hiking Tour you will have a separate hiking guide for your ground portion of the tour, as well, so a separate gratuity for them is appropriate.
Gratuities are always at the passengers’ discretion. The pilots and tour guides appreciate whatever you may choose to give them and work hard to provide the best possible experience for you whether you ‘tip’ them or not.

Transfers from various locations at the Grand Canyon can be arranged by taxi, seasonal shuttle bus service or self-drive.
This location also maintains a gift shop.
